Fannie Flaggs Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle-Stop Cafe :: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle-Stop Cafe
Fannie Flagg's Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle-Stop Cafe My first impression of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafà © was that it was a ââ¬Å"womanââ¬â¢s'; novel. This was because the movie, which was more popular than the book, was advertised as a ââ¬Å"chick flick';. To say the least, I was wrong. The novel poses many issues that face the people of the 1920ââ¬â¢s and 30ââ¬â¢s, and makes one think about what people have struggled through. The novel addresses the issue of racism before the time of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. It tells of the struggles women must go through when they reach menopause; the big change. However, the main plot line tells the story of two women, Idgie Threadgoode and Ruth Jamison, and the trials and tribulations of their life in the 1920ââ¬â¢s and 30ââ¬â¢s. Idgie and Ruth are business partners, best friends, and in the eyes of many, also lesbians. ââ¬Å"[Fried Green Tomatoes] represents around the issue of lesbianism, depicting a strong and intense friendship between two white women (the tomboy Idgie Threadgoode and the fern Ruth Jamison), but never committing itself one way or another'; (Pelligrini 7). There have not been many stories written about homosexuality in the first half of the twentieth century. That is why Fannie Flagg does not just come out and say that Idgie and Ruth are lesbians. In turn, the idea that Idgie and Ruth are lesbians is a subject that has been under heated debate. However, there are many episodes between Idgie and Ruth that are undeniable proof that they are homosexuals. The idea that Idgie and Ruth are lesbians is rampant throughout the story. It is evidenced by the way they speak to each other and act towards each other, but the idea is subverted due to the fact that everyone in the town sees Idgie as a man. The idea that Idgie and Ruth are lesbians can be misunderstood. To say that they are a lesbian couple does mean that they are sexually involved with each other. However, whether or not Idgie and Ruth are sexually involved is a decision that is left up to the reader. Flagg does not describe in the novel any sexual experiences between Idgie and Ruth. This is because the idea of lesbianism is a touchy subject and could have changed the idea that novel was trying to get across.

I even commend those that go to work and do school all at the same time. That works very well for some people, but not quite for me especially online. I have to find what works for me. Career Goals I am in the mist of changing careers from the military to hopefully finding a job doing Transportation Logistics as a civilian. I believe it would be more beneficial to me to get certified rather than going a degree in this field. For instance, if had a bachelors degree in my career field would over qualify me most of the job offers they have posted. I will continue to pursue my associates degree, but most likely in a classroom setting than online. My goal from there on out is to buy my time spent in the military, so that I can retire. In order to achieve this must get a federal equivalent job. I am looking to go anywhere to make this a dream a reality. Will travel to Europe, Asia, and even cross the border into Canada. I am just looking to one have a family, and a wife I can call my very o wn. Over all, I want to live by the Twelve Principles of Islam which are: knowledge, wisdom, understanding freedom, justice, equality. We will continue with: food clothing shelter, love, peace and peppiness. I have simple reasonable goals, nothing big.Time Management Techniques My success in college solely depends on me. Know that I can procrastinate a lot, but it's not totally my fault. For me balancing work and school is very difficult. I rather do one or the other. Now with that being said, I have decided to put school on hold until I get of the army. It's not like can't manage my time. It's just that at the end of the day what time do have left to manage. Get up at 4:30 am, and return home at ten o'clock at night. This is the reason why I have late assignments, and I had to pay for extra time on his class.Us Mary In summary I have discussed my career goals, and time management problems. I think I have some realistic goals and I can accomplish them on my own terms. I really want these things for me, and know in order to get them I will have to separate myself from the military. I think it will help with my time management skill, and really bring down my stress level.

Chinese New Year and the Kitchen God
The Kitchen God is assigned by Yu Huang, the emperor of heaven, to watch over each family and record what they do throughout the year. A paper picture of the Kitchen God is hung in a prominent location in the kitchen. Each year during Chinese New Year, the Kitchen God returns to heaven to report on what the family has done throughout the year. The family has a thank you dinner in which a bowl of sticky rice is placed in front of the Kitchen God. It is believed that if the Kitchen Godââ¬â¢s mouth is full of glutinous rice, he will not be able to speak about the familyââ¬â¢s activities. Others give glutinous rice balls served in sugar soup and brown sugar bars as a bribe for the Kitchen God to say favorable things about the family. After the thank you dinner, the picture of the Kitchen God is burned and thereby sent back to heaven. A new picture of the Kitchen God is hung in the kitchen after the start of Chinese New Year festivities.

Over the past few weeks we have watched a few horror movies ââ¬Å"Jaws, ââ¬Å"The Othersâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Frankensteinâ⬠but today we are just focusing on these three movies: ââ¬Å"Jawsâ⬠, ââ¬Å"The Othersâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠. ââ¬Å"Frankensteinâ⬠was just a flat out boring movie because it was a movie that was black and white and it showed portrayed nothing about how it made the movie suspenseful and scary. ââ¬Å"Jawsâ⬠was a movie that was made in 1975 which had nothing to scare people of this generation but at least they used appropriate techniques to make the movie suspenseful. ââ¬Å"The Others was a movie that was made in 2001 and they did a excellent job of foreshadowing by stating the obvious at the beginning of the movie but the weird part was nobody got what they meant but with this said I donââ¬â¢t think that the movie had used better techniques than ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠, in ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠I think their tech niques standed out the most primarily because of the special effects they used to make the movie jaw-dropping, blood curdling and eye-catching with this said I think the movie ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠did the best job in using the proper techniques to create suspense and fear in addition the director of the movie ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠, M. Night, Shyamalan, has been nominated for 2 Best Screenplay awards and 1 Best Director award for the movie ââ¬Å"Signsâ⬠alone. Early Years Educator Business Assessment
Question: Describe about the Early Years Educator for Business Assessment. Answer: Activity Pick a boo: This is a type of game that is most of the time played by the young infants. To carry out this activity, one of the nursery classrooms will have to cover his or her face then uncovers the face again in front of the children and says peekaboo! Or where is the baby? Age group 0 to 1 year 11 months Number of children 6 children Facility used A classroom facility Staff needed 4 staff trainers MaterialsEquipment Some toys that be used in the peekaboo game. Child development Outcomes The Peekaboo game will stimulate the sense of the children, build their gross motor skills, strengthen their visual tracking ability, encourage their social development and the most important of all, the game will tickle their sense of humor. The game will also teach the children about object permanence; a notion that even though they cannot see something for example the smiles of their nursery school teacher, in real sense it still exists. Safety precautions We should not use objects that may cause some danger to the children. The classroom where the activity is done should be clean before the play is started. The teacher should keenly observe the children so that they do not disturb each other. Preparation needed Planning Time required: 11am to 12pm Preparation of the classroom where the activity is going to take place by making it clean enough for the safety of children because the toddlers like picking things from the floor. Bringing in the required baby dolls for the game. Implementing activity I will play the peekaboo by covering my face using my hands. The toddlers are always fascinated whenever they look at faces. They love looking at someones face more than anything else in the world. I would also try some other variations like hiding the childrens favorite toy somewhere in the classroom like a cupboard and then have them to find it for them to reveal it in a flourish way. When they manage to get it, I will reward them with a bigger peekaboo and many more smiles. Reflecting The 6 Children enjoyed the peekaboo play. Some children had different difficulty when they were looking for the toy that I had hidden in the cupboard. However, the peekaboo play enhanced the thinking capacity of the children. From my observation, many of them enjoyed playing the game very much. Recommendation It is important for the teachers to be encouraged to play the peekaboo game with their children to enhance their sense of humor and also their thinking capacity. It will enable the children to develop fully. The teachers should develop more different games that engage the brains of the young ones. Bibliography Simpson, M. (2010).
